Privacy Principles

Collection


Whether for Stellar or its clients, we will only collect personal information that is necessary for providing a particular service or completing a business activity. The information will be collected in a non-intrusive manner, by fair and lawful means and in accordance with relevant regulatory guidelines and industry codes.

Where practicable, Stellar will collect personal information directly from the individual subject of the information.

Stellar will work in partnership with its clients to ensure that required disclosures are made to the individual from whom personal information is collected.

Use and Disclosure


Stellar will only use or disclose personal information for the purpose it was collected and as agreed with our clients unless:
a) The individual has provided their consent for a secondary use
b) The secondary purpose is related to the initial purpose of collection and the individual would reasonably expect such use or disclosure
c) If consent for a secondary use cannot practicably be obtained and the information is to be used for direct marketing purposes, Stellar will only use or disclose personal information for a secondary purpose where:
d) The information is not sensitive information; and
e) There has been no previous request from the individual not to receive direct marketing communications; and
f) In each direct marketing communication with the individual, contact details are provided and the individual is given the choice to ‘opt out' of further direct marketing communications.
g) Stellar may use or disclose personal information for an unrelated secondary purpose related to public interest such as law enforcement and public or individual health and safety.

Data Quality


Stellar will take reasonable steps to make sure that personal information collected, used or disclosed is accurate, complete and up to date. Stellar's information collection activities are usually driven by specific client requirements and as such quality and retention periods will be client specific.

Data Security


Stellar will take reasonable steps to protect personal information held from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Stellar has comprehensive Security Policies and Procedures in place to ensure maximum protection of both Stellar and our Clients' information. These include:
1) Network Security encompassing restricted access by user, password protected system logins, monitoring of system access and use, strict email and intranet usage policies and strong anti-virus regimens.
2) Operational Security encompassing staff Confidentiality Agreements, enforcement of password regimes, restricted external drive access, securing unattended workstations and controlled access to documents.
3) Physical Security encompassing controlled access to call centre premises and secure areas including Communications Rooms, remotely managed security systems and after-hours security guards.

Access and Correction


Upon request from an individual, Stellar, in accord with its client(s), will provide that individual with access to their personal information and reasonable chance to correct their information that is not accurate, complete and up to date will be provided. In certain circumstances, Stellar or its clients may not be required by law to allow access to or correction of personal information and reasons will be provided if this is the case. An access fee may be charged to cover costs of providing the information.

Identifiers


Stellar will not adopt as its own customer identifier or disclose an identifier that has been assigned by a Government agency or a service provider of an agency.

Trans-border Data Flows
